The Green Guitar Folk House Presents:

Good Lovelies

Good Lovelies

Saturday, September 14, 2024 – Doors open 6:30 p.m.

Funny and upbeat, with just a pinch of sass, Juno-award winning Good Lovelies bring textbook three-part harmonies, constant instrument swapping, and witty stage banter. They have enlivened the folk music landscape since they joined forces in 2006 for their first show at Toronto’s Gladstone Hotel.

The Good Lovelies (Caroline Brooks, Kerri Ough, and Sue Passmore) were friends first when they decided to take the leap from their day jobs and head out on the road making music across Canada.

The trio returns to the Green Guitar stage with their Juno-nominated “We Will Never Be the Same.” Their fifth studio album is both a return to a more elemental, acoustic-based musical platform reaching back to the early days, as well as an immersive emotional experience crafted by three seasoned songwriters who bring their own real-life stories in all their dynamism and messy complexity to the fore.

… it is not solely the music that brings crowds back to see [the Good Lovelies] time and time again – it is also their humble, yet playful and endearing personalities that form instant connections to those in the audience …

— Great Dark Wonder

Opening: Minor Gold

Minor Gold

Tracy McNeil and Dan Parsons (respectively, Canadian and Australian) first started playing together in the Australian band “Tracy McNeil and TheGoodLife.”
As COVID hit, the partners — calling themselves Minor Gold — went in lockdown, writing songs with an altogether different tone, somewhat lighter but with the same lyrical depth. The result is the self-titled “Minor Gold,” the award-winning folk-rock album with melodic vocal interplay and sixth-sense harmonies.

“…like Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham at the top of their game …”

– Noel Mengel, LOUD MOUTH

Where is the Green Guitar Folk House?

Green Guitar Folk House events are sponsored by Shawnee Mission Unitarian Universalist Church and held in its sanctuary, next to the railroad tracks in old downtown Lenexa, Kansas.

If you are looking for the “church” look for a school! SMUUCh is in a converted elementary school (yay recycling!) The sanctuary — you might notice — is in a beautiful converted, former school gymnasium.

Although our venue is sponsored by SMUUCh, it is not a church event.

The series is open to the public. Youth are welcome to attend. These are all-ages shows

Green Guitar Folk House is located at
9400 PFlumm, Lenexa, Kan.

Look for the big Green Guitar!
